It’s like a curse. Once the summer holidays at the Mediterranean are over, the painstaking achieved bikini figure has disappeared again.
No wonder! The Mediterranean food simply tastes so good that, e.g. vacationers to Greece bring about a kilogram of extra body weight back home with them on average. But how can you get rid of the superfluous pounds as gently as possible, without the dreaded yo-yo effect?
Superfood is the solution! Superfoods are foods that are above average in vitamins, minerals, secondary phytochemicals, unsaturated fatty acids and dietary fibre. Some of these superfoods are berries, citrus fruits, vegetables, herbs, sprouts, algae, goji berries, chia seeds and quinoa. These foods do not only deplete your pounds, but stimulate intestinal activity and your metabolism, detoxify and purify.
But the best is: superfood dishes taste delicious and you can enjoy them to your heart’s content without having to count calories.
So that you can start with a superfood treat right away, we have tracked down this delicious pesto recipe for you:
Herbal Pesto for 4 servings:
2-3 tablespoons pine nuts
1 bunch of SanLucar basil
5 stems of flat-leaf SanLucar parsley
8 stalks of SanLucar thyme
5 stems of SanLucar oregano
1 tsp grated peel of a SanLucar Lemon
50g freshly grated Italian Parmigiano Reggiano
10 teaspoons SanLucar Olive Oil
Salt and pepper
Wash the herbs and pluck leaves from the stalks. Roast the pine nuts in a pan till light brown. Add the lemon peel. Puree everything together with the Parmesan. Add the oil and stir in. Season with salt and pepper. Finished! This pesto goes perfectly with whole-grain pasta or toasted bread.
