Exotic Panettone with Caramel Bliss

A festive dream with international flair: The classic Italian panettone gets a tropical twist with sweet, juicy pineapple and refreshing mango. And as the crowning highlight? A heavenly touch of caramel! You won’t find more global flavor on your holiday table.

  1. Prepare the Panettone:
    In a bowl, whisk the eggs, vanilla extract, milk, and cinnamon together. Heat a pan over medium heat. Dip the panettone slice into the egg mixture, making sure it’s well soaked on both sides. Cook the slice in the pan for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  2. Prepare the Fruit:
    Peel and dice the mango and pineapple. In another pan, lightly sauté the fruit for a few minutes until slightly soft. Flambé with the rum and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
  3. Make the Caramel Sauce:
    Melt the sugar in a pan until it becomes a light caramel. Add the lime juice and stir. Pour in the heavy cream and simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens smoothly.
  4. Assemble the Dish:
    Place the panettone on a plate, top with the warm, rum-flambéed fruit, and drizzle with the caramel sauce.
  5.  Serve:
    Add a scoop of your favorite ice cream on top. Enjoy this delicious festive treat!
