Our promise: Fantastically fresh!
“Where would we be without vegetables?” asks picker María with a laugh, holding up the freshly cut lettuce. These mini hearts of lettuce are juicy green, firm and fragrant and taste absolutely delicious. “We are constantly evolving and love change,” says María. Because on María’s finca, innovation and quality are very important.
That’s why this beguiling cross between butterhead and romaine lettuce grows here. The family business has been in Los Almagros, in the Spanish region of Murcia, since 1990. This region is known for its mild, Mediterranean climate and is perfect for growing lettuce.
And there is something else they are particularly proud of here. The cultivation is based on the zero-waste principle. Waste is avoided and everything is sensibly recycled and incorporated into the growing process. María adds: “We also guarantee that our lettuces are free of residues at the time of harvest.” Wonderfully crunchy, sweet and aromatic peppers thrive a few kilometres away, as does delicious asparagus, which is so fresh it squeaks. Fantastic onions also sprout on the Finca Jumasol. The experienced Master Growers here have been taking care of the mild, full flavour since the 1980s. The flawless onions are picked by hand by experienced pickers and packed directly into paper bags. This is good for people and for nature.
