Today we have a little review of our stone fruit fields for you at the beginning of March. “I’m enchanted every time,” says our quality expert Alberto, “when I’m greeted by a sea of fragrant blossoms.” But now it’s time to grab the ladder and dive in.
Because sweet Paraguayos – the small, flat peaches with the crunchy, juicy white flesh – will soon be growing here and Alberto´s job is to determine whether they will be sweet enough for SanLucar.
“To do this, I have to understand the cultivation and the trees and, of course, visit regularly.”
The first Paraguayos are already available at the end of April, but not all of them are ripe at the same time. And even when they are ripe, only the tastiest are allowed to bear the SanLucar name until late summer. We’re excited to see what happens with our sweet treats and are sure that Alberto has at least brought a few blossom branches for his loved ones.
