As part of a China trip by SanLucar CEO Armin Rehberg starting on Monday, 12 January 2026, SanLucar implemented further key milestones as part of its internationalization strategy in China.
A key building block is the long-term partnership between SanLucar and the Chinese company Dingdong. SanLucar CEO Armin Rehberg and the Dingdong CEO Changlin Liang, CFO and Head of Fruit Department Song Wang and COO Yi Ding signed a contract for a 3-year starting period for the future business together. Dingdong, with a turnover of 25 billion RMB, is China’s largest online fresh food retail company. Dingdong is operating its business with more than 1,000 dark stores (mini warehouses), more than 15,000 Dingdong riders and more than 400,000 m² of warehouses. The average monthly orders are more than 30 million. Dingdong has a strong focus on fresh fruits. The signing ceremony was a part of a workshop with the whole Dingdong Fruit and logistics Management Team.
“Dingdong, as the market leader in China in the much more important online business for fresh fruit, is with its structure and orientation a perfect partner for our premium fruits and our premium brand SanLucar in China,” said Armin Rehberg, CEO SanLucar.
SanLucar is currently already delivering its premium blueberries and premium cherries to Chinese consumers via Dingdong. The next articles will be SanLucar stone fruit, SanLucar citrus, SanLucar grapes, but also avocados and persimmons. In the convenience area, SanLucar starts with smoothies and its caramel and Medjool dates. Another key building block is the joint setup of a production in China for the Chinese market of SanLucar bowls and salads as well as the SanLucar premium fresh cut range.
Further milestones within the China trip were the expansion of the joint activities of SanLucar with Joy Wing Mau. JWM is one of SanLucar’s key service partners in China. Together, the premium supermarket chain Ole is already being supplied. Here, the first SanLucar POS concept in China will be implemented shortly.
“China is for us one of the extremely interesting future markets, not only for our international production, but also for the setup and expansion of a Chinese domestic SanLucar production. Here we will be in harvest and delivery with the first product already at the end of 2026, a great result of our whole team,” said Armin Rehberg, CEO SanLucar.
