Country of origin
Our decorative banana plants »Paradise Magic« are actually not from the tropics. They grow in the Lower Rhine, in the Ammerland, in the Netherlands and in Italy.
History
The banana has made a short trip around the world. Originally, it comes from the tropical rainforest of Southeast Asia. The cultivation of bananas began there about 7000 years ago. It reached the Arab world via India and was brought to West Africa by Arab merchants. Portuguese sailors took the plant to the Canary Islands in the 15th century, and from here it reached Central America as a gift from a Portuguese monk in the 16th century.
Location and Care Tips
Our banana plant likes sun as well as partial shade. In summer, it also decorates your garden, terrace or balcony. The only thing it doesn’t like is rain, so ideally it should be kept under cover. And since it is not hardy, you should make a place for it in your home during cold temperatures. If you water it moderately and avoid dryness and waterlogging, you will have a lot of fun with our sunny tropical plant, which will delight you with beautiful blossoms once a year.
